Rat: ".... holy shit. Hooooly shit."
Rewind
Rat runs and Death sprints with staff
Staff misses Rat
Death looses sight of Rat
Camera focuses on Rat behind a vase
Rat peeks around it, looks at Death
Death turns to vase, Rat darts back behind it
Death approaches, Heart is pounding, Rat shushes Heart and Heart silently protests that they cANT "ShUSh"-
Death moves vase and grabs R
Time stops
Rewind
Death moves vase, Rat dodges hand and bites it
Death shakes hand and gets more annoyed, Rat bolts
Death chases
Rat dodges staff again, again, but not the thir
Time stops
Heart: "Steve!! Wait, I have a good idea!"
Rat: "Yeah??? Go ahead, shoot, I'll take anything because I'm running on pure adrenaline and no brain cells."
Heart: "Go backwards right before they jab at you a third time!"
Rat: "..."
Rat: "... Oh that's good."
Rewind
Rat dodges staff again, again, and stops, bolts the other way the third time
Death misses and trips from trying to go back too quick, falls and curses
Something is up with this Rat, why can't it die? Why does it know exactly what to do?!
Death: "Okay. tHAT'S IT!"
Death springs up and charges at Rat
Death: "You're going to die please!"
Rat stops and Death stops in front of him, jabs, Rat grabs onto staff
Death, smiling wide: "Ha!"
Death thrusts staff at wall long-ways, Rat jumps, staff cracks wall, Rat lands on mask
Death grabs for him and gets a hold of the mask, Rat's on a big black feather in the back
Death: "Okay-- rats are smart, I get it now,"
Rat jumps between the feathers as she reaches
Death: "But I didn't" -- reach -- "KNOW" -- turn -- "you could be smartasses-"
Death bends over, and the feather with Rat bends in front of her
Rat's hanging from it by his front paws
They stare at eachother.
Death: "Hey."
Death: "So."
Death: "... You have a hole in you."
...
Rat nods
Death: "I can literally see your heart, that's magic, that rat's don't have naturally."
Heart waves tentatively.
Heart looks up at Rat, worried
Rat narrows eyes at Death.
Death: "Hear me out -- how many years have you been alive?"
Rat thinks.
He uses one 'hand' to hold up four claws and shrugs.
Death: "That's already a long time for rats! I bet you've seen a lot, and made a lot of rat friends! You've lived a full life being smart and not dying. Soooooo,"
Rat's ears flatten, he glares
Death gr
Time stops
Rewind
Death: "That's already a long time for rats! I bet you've seen a lot, and made a lo" -- Rat lets go -- "A-HA" Death gr
Time Stops
Rat breathes heavily
Rat: "What. Was that."
Heart: "It looks like she's onto us.."
Rat: "Then enough playing around! We need to get out of here and away from this..."
Heart: "Lady?"
Rat: "Sure."
Rewind
Death: "That's already a long time for rats! I bet y-GOT Y-"
Time stops
Rewind
Death: "That's already a l-THER-"
Time stops
Rewind
Death: "That's already a long time for ra- D-"
Time Stops
Rat: "..."
Rat: "Hm..."
Heart: "... Do you have an idea?"
Rat: "No."
Rat: "I don't."
Rat: "... But I want to get back home."
Rat looks at Death.
The eye-holes in her mask are so shaded and dark they still manage to penetrate into him and Heart, even when stuck in time.
Rat: "Let me know if you think of something."
Heart: ".. Alright Steve."
They both try to think of something.
Heart: "Hey. What if you tried falling so your head's facing down and your tail's facing up?"
Rat: "So she grabs the my tail instead?"
Heart: "Yeah! And then you can still move for a second!"
Rat: "A second..."
Rat: "Okay. Take: who's fucking keeping count anymore."
Rewind
Death: "Th- THERE! oh- SH-"
Rat bites the hand clamped around his tail and lands on the ground
Rat bolts for a window and climbs out
Death: "No wAIT-!"
Death rushes, grabs for him, misses as Rat's making his way down
Rat makes it into the forest
It'll still be a chore to get through, but it's better than dealing with Death. He'll need to find that train he slipped onto again. For this moment, he'll just enjoy Heart's hug and cheering over the relief that he made it
